Anamu alla al’hajiri al’natayi takes its impulse from the poem by the Iraqi writer Nadeem Al-Aloosi. It is one in a series of poems that are interrupted by Malak Alzumurud, the Emerald Angel. This is a Pierrot-like character who taunts the poet and serves a foil with which he can leave his own reality to question the political turmoil around him. 

Following a process of transcription and translation, this work remaps Al-Aloosi’s text, shifting the temporal gravity of the author’s own recitations within the topography of Fusha Arabic.

Anamu alla al’hajiri al’natayi s’inspire d’un poème de l’écrivain irakien Nadeem Al-Aloosi. Ce texte fait partie d’une série de poèmes décrivant une mise en situation où le poète se retrouve interrompu par l’ange d’émeraude, Malak Alzumurud. Cet ange semblable à Pierrot de La Comédie dell’arte, raille le poète et lui sert de faire-valoir pour quitter sa propre réalité et s’interroger sur l’agitation politique qui l’entoure. 

Au terme d’un processus de transcription et de traduction, cette œuvre remodèle le texte de Nadeem Al-Aloosi. Elle déplace la gravité temporelle des récitations de l’auteur au sein de la topographie de la langue arabe Fusha.
