In late February, I will be presenting a new collaboration of works for marimba and erhu along with percussionist Colleen Phelps, erhu virtuoso Shenghua Dai, and composer Huijuan Ling. Our program includes traditional works and transcriptions, as well as the premieres of new pieces for erhu and percussion by Huijuan and me. Shenghua will introduce erhu briefly and Huijuan and I will discuss our different approaches to writing for Chinese instruments.
Shenghua will be visiting from Shanghai, so it’s a rare opportunity for us to all make music together. I’m particularly excited to have the chance to share my work with Chinese instruments with my friends in the U.S.
The concerts are February 19th in Nashville [details TBA on my Events page] & February 20th at 3 PM at the Public Library of Cincinnati and Hamilton County (Main Branch). Both concerts are free and open to the public.
