In late June/early July, I visited Taiwan on a grant from the University of Cincinnati Research Council. I spent my time there meeting with traditional instrumentalists, going to concerts, and learning about Taiwanese culture. (I also bought an erhu and am proceeding to make my neighbors hate me… but it’s research, really*).
I have a new string quartet underway for the Ava Quartet, to be premiered this November. There are a few other exciting projects happening simultaneously/in the immediate future, including an erhu solo*, and a piece for voice and percussion for Colleen Phelps.
